If you want to read a complete picture, self-written, about a sociopath, up to and including his blame on geography/childhood/neighbors/money for his being the way he is, then this is the book for you. Corolla's disdain for everyone who is not himself is very apparent. Just a story that leaves a bad taste in your mouth and the desire to never again spend another dime on this 'celebrity' in any project he ever does. The reader comes away from the story hoping against hope that Corolla is just extremely sarcastic, but knowing the truth-he's just an immensely narcissistic creature. If you want to read a complete picture, self-written, about a sociopath, up to and including his blame on geography/childhood/neighbors/money for his being the way he is, then this is the book for you. This is a good old trivia style book, in the genre of Ripley's Believe It Or Not! books. Enjoyable, killed a few hours, good bed time book. Learned a bit of trivia, but not one I'd go about recommending especially.

A very engaging book-a story of a young African American girl, already married and the mother of twins, who has come to Philadelphia from Georgia so her family can have a better life-one free from the extreme racism of the South. We see Hattie as a dreamer who saw every dream dashed to pieces, saw it take away her humanity, and replaced it all with a desperate drive to push her children to succeed. She is seen more as a machine than as a person. She obviously loved her husband at one point, also loved her children; but the push to have them live a better life than the one she could provide for them made all of them believe she didn't have an ounce of love for any of them. Her children became a single-family diaspora; her children spread all over the country. Not a really happy story; but a very human one.A very engaging book-a story of a young African American girl, already married and the mother of twins, who has come to Philadelphia from Georgia so her family can have a better life-one free from the extreme racism of the South. A very sweet book; of course, there are some sad stories of people who are not accepted by their families after coming out, but most of these are stories of gay people who are looking back fondly at themselves in their childhoods, point of which being to reinforce the fact that they were "Born this way." Engagingly cute photos (most "adorkable"). Fun to read, over all.A very sweet book; of course, there are some sad stories of people who are not accepted by their families after coming out, but most of these are stories of gay people who are looking back fondly at themselves in their childhoods, point of which…

Aimed at the Jewess reader, this eclectic book has a bit of something for every woman. How to look glamorous with hilarious short cuts, how to keep house or throw cocktail parties with equally hilarious shortcuts, and how to make a myriad of cocktails in a very inventive way. Funny in a Phyllis Diller sort of way, if Phyllis did kosher comedy. Fun read, not serious at all.Aimed at the Jewess reader, this eclectic book has a bit of something for every woman. Much better story than I had originally thought it might be! First Impression; Sex In The City wanna-be. Second Impression; realistic version of what it's like to be a young woman on her way up the career ladder when she really doesn't know which way she wants to go! Nice characters; boyfriend is for real, parental relationships well-written, friendships nicely done, and the plot twist near the end with Rebecca-very nicely and unpredictably done! This is an interesting story about a young man whose parents came from China, and became, through hard work, successful restaurant owners. Their son, though, is another story. He gets into nothing but trouble in school, feeling disenfranchised by The American Dream even though his parents are living proof of that dream, and he benefitted from it at all times. He goes through many tribulations of his own devices; graduates from law school only to become, like his father, a restaurant owner. His love of food is apparent; his love of minor criminal activity is also. What undoes him is his love of street slang (which is inappropriately funny; many of us have met that person from another language who has picked up so much American slang that they become almost completely impossible to understand, and this guy is him!) He is really focused on being COOL, which is hilarious in anyone over 18, and he is still carrying this banner into his 30's! The way this story is written will make it a classic many years from now, as an archaic example of early 2000's slang, which, I suppose, makes this book worth reading? This is an interesting story about a young man whose parents came from China, and became, through hard work, successful restaurant owners. After the first few chapters of Richard Pryor's life story, the rest of his story makes perfect sense. There is a lot of tragedy, way more than there was ever any comedy in his life; one wonders how he found the ability to laugh at anything, actually. This book is a more intense read than I thought it would be; more interesting, maybe, to sociologists rather than to people who were Pryor fans or people looking to follow Pryor's footsteps (I am sure no one would want to, even if they could.) A sad, confusing story about a sad and confused man. After the first few chapters of Richard Pryor's life story, the rest of his story makes perfect sense. Hey, look kids! A Real Book Written By A Real Author! This story was recommended by BookPage, and I am so very glad I had the opportunity to read it. This story entails the 'plight' of a family (story written 1924) wherein the mother is a wonderful mother and wife, and the father is a good man, but, neither one of them are particularly suited to nor gratified by their social positions as Wage Earner and Home Maker. It turns out, due to an 'accident', the father is the much better home parent, and the mother the much better wage earner. How they illustrate and solve their dilemma not only draws a rich portrait of society, it also illustrates the deep things close partners keep from each other. The turn of the phrase in this story leaves this WordNerd in some sort of Eden; it is a Must Read, for that alone!Hey, look kids! A Real Book Written By A Real Author! This was an interesting but light read. I saw about ten minutes of the series and decided the book was much better-way more graphic sex in the series than in the book, so the series is slightly lacking in substance. Piper was put into prison for trafficking drugs. She vacillates between recognizing drugs as harmful/violent crime. While she sees the damage done (violence upon the bodies, families and spirits of users) she also tries to promote this as "non violent offenses". Can't be both, unfortunately. She definitely feels pretty sad for Piper. She also seems to think prisons should be used to educate people or some such. People do misunderstand the term "Rehabilitate" -it means to bring a person back up to the level they were living at, before they sunk into crime. Since most of the people in the system start out pretty poorly to begin with, this 'rehabilitation" is technically right on target. That being said, yes, their particular system could have used more concrete assistance for being useful on the "outside". This story is more shallow pond, rather than a deep, philosophical dip into the ocean. Fun read, went on far too long, as such. This was an interesting but light read. Yes, Ray Bradbury definitely should not have read this book. You can read silently faster than he reads aloud; and he seems bored by his own writing, which bored my homeschooler practically to tears and the pace interefered with the ability to comprehend what was being said.
