"Lost Lake" had such promise and I loved the premise, but 27 pages in, I found that "I" was lost. Bad analogy, but seriously, I hate books that don't do a good job of explaining which characters are which and I have to flip back and…

The first book I have read from Ms. Allen and I am delighted. I think I have found a new favorite author. Positively delightful with just a hint of whimsical and fantasy. Refreshing that her characters speak their thoughts and feelings…

Easy reading. A little magic and a little romance. Perfect for a cold winter night or just when you want pure escapism.

I have read a couple of Sarah Addison Allen books and she’s a definite favorite of mine. All of her books have a little bit of magic and a little bit of mystery and love. Her type of magic isn’t one where people study it and try to force,…

I am a big fan of Sarah Addison Allen and her books. My goal is to read every one of her writings. This is the fourth book of hers that I have read. Her books are always nice and friendly and light, with a bit of mystery, a bit of magic,…

Like yesucan, I'm a big fan of the beautiful atmospheric writing that Allan uses in all of her books that so easily puts the reader in those shabby yet magical settings. Although there is a climax in each of her novels, you're not in a…

A little bit of love, mystery and suspense. First book I have read of Sarah Allen's and real enjoyed it - an easy read.

I love all Allen's books. I enjoyed the characters in the book so very much. They were believable, funny, I could imagine the atmosphere, the lake and the tired buildings. Enjoy!!!

Really enjoyed "Garden Spells" so decided to read this book also and it was a great read. Great storyline and it moved along nicely. Recommend it as a great summer novel.

Love Allen's books.. She has a way of bringing the characters to real life. My favorite, however, is Garden Secrets

Very funny and moving book. Characters very well developed and loved to see the bond that developed between Kate, Devin, and Wes. Resonated a lot with my own childhood!

If there's not a sequel to this, there easily could be. Very "real" and funny characters in this book.

The spark is back! “Bulahdeen ignored her. "I taught literature for nearly forty years. The books I read when I was twenty completely changed when I read them when I was sixty. You know why? Because the endings changed. After you finish…

Lost Lake is Sarah Addison Allen's newest book, and I was glad to see that her fight with cancer didn't impair her ability to spin a good yarn. This book has all the typical hallmarks for an Allen book: magical realism, location as a…

I think this might be Addison Allen's best book since her first, GARDEN SPELLS. A wonderful mix of her brand of just-there magical realism, community, friends, and family. I thought I knew where the book would go, and the ending did just…
