I wanted to see more of L. Gladstone's work. She was fine, the film less so. I was once engaged to a woman who grew up in Livingston. Can see why she left that armpit.

This is definitely a movie that appeals to a certain type of cinephile. Whatever type that is, I'm not it. The acting by all four of the feminine leads is excellent (especially the awesome Lily Gladstone), but the whole movie reminds me…

Absolutely loved this film, based on Maile Meloy's short story collection, "Both ways is the only way I want it". Quiet, funny, heartbreaking glimpses into the lives of three women set in the stark, immense beauty of the Montana landscape.…

Good title for this DVD which describes the active lives of particular women on the northwestern plains.

There was an uncanny feeling of deja vu while watching this film, and thanks to the extras interview with Kelly Reichardt, revealed that the stories were from Maile Meloy, and I had read her book "Both Ways is the Only Way I Want it."…

Sound quality is so bad that it is impossible to understand the dialog or follow the plot. No subtitles available.

This movie, while enjoyable, left me with so many questions: Laura Dern: Was that the only time she slept with Michelle Williams’ husband or had there been an ongoing affair? Why did he end it – guilt? Who was Dennis (coming down the…

A quiet beautiful film. Three stories of women in Livingston, MT and their everyday lives. The intersection in the stories reminded me of the work of Elizabeth Strout. I think Kelly Reinhardt is one of the more interesting directors out…

About certain women in sparsely populated Montana (in and around the town Livingston, wind capital of Montana; hence Blowing Livingston was considered as a title of the film) their occupations, relationships, aspirations and generally…

An beautiful film. The director pays meticulous attention to shot composition, and the editing and overall cinematography is excellent. It's a very quiet and contemplative kind of cinema. People who can't stand slow movies probably…

Three stories of women, living in the same region - Only similarity between them is that they are not connecting with someone they associate with. I wished to know more about the possible, but probably missed connection in the third story.…

Written and directed by Kelly Reichardt in 2016 based on three short stories from Maile Meloy's collections:"Half in Love and Both Ways Is the Only Way I Want It", this American drama sketches the lives of four women. Although the cover…

I found this film to be a complete waste of time and had no point nor did I find this to be "an indelible portrait of independent women," as quoted on the DVD jacket. This was slow moving and after the first 45 minutes, I found myself…

I suspect all these negative postings will not prevent the audience for this from watching and delighting in it. That audience will in large part be satisfied viewers of Kelly' earlier work. I leave these thoughts for dubious potential…

In this Melba toast of a movie three short and largely irrelevant shorts are vaguely connected to concoct a film(?). Art house indie, whatever that means. Makes me wonder, if a film is not intended to inform, provoke thought or entertain…

Extremely bored for the first third. Then I read these reviews and realized I'd be bored for the next 2/3rds. So I quit!!!

If you are looking for a cure to insomnia, then this movie is for you. Watching paint dry is more exciting than this flick.

Can't people find any better criticism than "boring"? Like your life is so exciting clueless commentators! If you're familiar with any of the films directed by Kelly Reichardt, which include "Wendy & Lucy," "Meek's Cutoff," and "Old Joy,"…

With great actresses like Laura Dern and Michelle Williams I expected to like this film more than I did... I cannot put my finger on exactly why I was disappointed, but the first story involving the hostage situation seemed unbelievable. …

I felt the stories were left unfinished but I guess that's the point. Life goes on and we don't know what will happen or where we'll end up. I enjoyed it.

Critics rated this film very highly for its subtlety and nuance. We rate it Five Yawns, for its stultifying pace, flat and uninteresting characters, and almost total absence of plot.

A quiet, understated film about four everyday women just trying to get by.

A very good movie. Three stories of three women lightly intersected. Calm and serene even with the hostage scene.

This quiet movie is small on words and big on emotional impact. The slow pace serves to heighten the tension in each scene, and the four lead actors (Laura Dern, Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams and Lily Gladstone) are phenomenal. The…
