"The old gringo came to Mexico to die." The old gringo is American author Ambrose Bierce, best known for his Civil War stories and "The Devil's Dictionary." In 1913, he left for Mexico and was never seen again. Mexican novelist Carlos Fuentes's imagines what happened to Bierce during his Mexico period, where he gets mixed up in the Revolution and with an American woman living down there. Pancho Villa has a cameo. You'll definitely appreciate this more if you're familiar with Bierce's writing. Later made into a film with Gregory Peck as Bierce.
