With each book in the series, Le Guin has grown in depth. Tenar comes to recognize the binding spells of fear, shame, and male domination and seeks to free herself and the child from their sticky webs. This is a moving story of courage, rising out of the ashes from devasting loss, the healing power of patient love.

Easily, my favorite book in the Earthsea series. This book revolved around Tenar after she has lived out the life she thought she wanted. This book starts with the meeting of Tenar and the burned child, Therru. After the death of Ogion, and Ged's magic-less return, Tenar tries to raise Therru and "heal" her scars. But that an action, like healing, can only be performed by the victim. This book help my attention all the way through and I could not put it down. I'm not sure if this is really the end of the story but it was awesome.

This turned out not to be the last book of Earthsea after all. Hurrah!
