Wise Blood

AL_JEREMIAH Aug 08, 2016

A devout Catholic who lived in Georgia, O’Connor used her stories to explore religious themes. Her characters usually undergo some type of spiritual transformation or emerge with a new awareness. The stories are set mostly in the South and are surprisingly violent, with grotesque and unexpected elements, underscored by a dark humor and a finely crafted intelligence. The themes of grace, and innocence vs. experience are common.
