This short book is part history of Glassman's work with Greystone Bakery and Greystone Inn in New York and Yonkers. The other half of the book is a take on Dogen's famous zen book Instructions to the Cook, and Glassman's interpretation of it.

Both halves of the book are equally fascinating, but each on its own would have made a fine read. I've finished this book wanting to learn more about Glassman and his story, and his journey. While equally wishing he had spent more time elucidating the concepts of Zen in this book.

Either way, this short read has more than enough to keep everyone thinking about the concepts and ideas of Zen, helping others, and mindful living for a long while.

Highly recommended.
