Ann Rule writes with graceful description about this tragedy that rocked Johnson County in the late 90s. The book begins with the events that occurred on a pivotal evening in November of 1997, then presents a fascinating case study about the woman at the center of the crime. The reader also learns about the multiple people connected to what happened that night, followed with the legal proceedings and a surprising conclusion. Although Rule at times appears to be somewhat biased against Debora Green, she does attempt to look objectively at her in order to discern what would cause this devoted mother to be convicted of such a deplorable crime. An enjoyable and engaging psychological study, "Bitter Harvest" is well worth the read.
