Simon Mawer’s grotesque novel, Mendel’s Dwarf found me both entertained and intrigued in spite of a slow start and a TMI wander into the biography and research of Gregor Mendel. Lovers of the literary archetype Irony as well as those who relish the fickle finger of ironic fate should delight in the mad science of Mawer’s protagonist. He has a poignant and unsettling message as well as a massage for any brave reader who is not too put off by the occasional mathematical equation.

1990s genetic science. I was unable to read to the the end.

Don't be daunted by the scientific lingo. A slow start but a blockbuster ending. A poignant, but cynical and realistic picture of what it is like to feel trapped inside a malformed body.
