This book had an okay beginning, an intriguing middle, and an incredible ending that literally shakes things up. The setup, which features Violet feeling left out and disrespected by her family, was disappointingly predictable. But as she learns about mysterious parallels between herself and another girl who lived a century ago, the plot becomes distinctly more gripping. Once the story warmed up, I rooted for Violet the whole way. The dramatic ending is awesome, to use the colloquial term. I only wish that the mysterious force from the past that created these parallels was better explained; as it is, it's this mysterious thing about which we know nothing. Overall great book.
