So the author's introduction mentions that these Otherland books are all one, which is broken up into four books. Thus not really having a real beginning or ending.

Which sort of reminds me of a quote that has been re-said many times in history: “Life is a journey, not a destination.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ok then, I'm a big fan of journey's. However, this book not only lacked any sense of destination, the journey was lacking also.

There was a bug world in the beginning that was super cool to see the characters explore. The most disappointing par of this book was the stolen idea from "The Wizard of Oz". I think Tad Williams has the ability to create intricate and stunning worlds. He doesn't even need to use other worlds. Sure, I can see that it was created because Grail Brotherhood members were creating worlds from the past which they were nostalgic for. However, if I wanted to read a Wizard of Oz book, I would have read Wicked or any of the other Wizard of Oz books.

So, I'm a little disappointed. It may be a while before I come back to the other books in this series.
