Good, but not very good writing, and neither the character or story interested me.
When the late Billy Lynch's relatives and friends gather together to keep his memory alive, stories are woven and memories relived detailing his life in the close Irish-American community and the intricate feelings that resurface
A beguiling story that begins at the end of Charming Billy’s life. This mythi Irish-Catholic sustains a yearning for his early lost love, Eva, and drowns his memories in whiskey and a rebound marriage to Maeve, a loving compromiser who embraces her Billy with deep affection, foibles and all. Your heart aches for each of the characters as the truth of their lies and loves are revealed.
This book haunts me. It gave me vivid insights of the Boston Irish Catholics I've worked with on local political campaigns, in Boston City Hall, and one I fell in love with. Can't live with 'em, wouldn't want to live without them. Excellent. Just perfect as far as I'm concerned.
