This piece was a little better than the first American Girl novella we read. It is a nice juxtaposition to the feminist dystopian, post-apocalyptic novels in my wheelhouse. I believe a lot can be learned from the hobos and other nomads of the Great Depression. I figure once society breaks down after Trump starts WW3 with China and North Korea and the EMP's are deployed in the Stratosphere then we will be doing a lot of walking, scrapping, foraging, hunting and hard surviving together in tribal fashion. Yes, I have a feeling Trump is going to make the 2020's make the 1930's look like the affluent 80's.
