Thirteen years have passed since the novel "A Cold Red Sunrise" was first published. Rostnikov is now the Chief Inspector in the Office of Special Investigation of the Moscow Police department which handles only cases that are politically sensitive, unlikely to be solved or offer much potential grief. Obviously, Rostnikov has learned to clash only with the FSB, the successor organization to the KGB, when he can win. I like the way the author blends Russian history with his novels. IMHO, I would rate "Murder On The Trans-Siberian Express" at 4.0 stars. It's a shame that the first 14 novels of the Inspector Rostnikov series are out-of-print.
