Eden Murdoch and Brad Randall have not seen or spoken to each other for a decade. The only thing is that this time it happens to be through the bars of a jail cell. All the action takes place in two very stereotypical Western towns with some very odd characters that are not always fully realized or even interesting. In true Western genre form, there is the Good Guys and the Bad Guys. And yet it is purported to be a Mystery! However, the reader can easily solve the mystery. And the grand finale, which is supposed to be bittersweet, is only flat and unconvincing. In what promised to be a wonderful reunion of two unforgettable characters from her first book, An Uncommon Enemy, turns out to be a strange concoction that can only be called snake oil.
