I find this one hard to rate. The tale of this family epic five year walk the whole length of the US Continental Divide, starting when their children are one and three is fascinating. The verbal snapshots of the land, breathtaking mountains, and traveling with llamas are vivid and sink into your memory. The book had me looking up different wilderness areas and making a bucket list for areas I truly want to experience. (The Chinese Wall in Montana!) That being said, I really don't care about how many times she and her husband had sex, or the difficulties they had having sex while camping with small children. Nor did I find the petty quarrels that broke out when they were tired or wet interesting. I could have done without her thoughts on the state of her marriage, when she had basically bossed her husband into the five year walk and he wasn't totally happy about it. But perhaps that is just me. The book did make me want to pack a llama and head for the wild hills.
