So well done...an epic life lived. Boyd is a storyteller and that is as good as it gets. Highly recommended.
...(Author) has been called a "master storyteller" (Chicago Tribune) and "a gutsy writer who is good company to keep" (Time) -- now gives…a novel that evokes the tumult, events and iconic faces of our time, as it tells the story of Logan Mountstuart …through his intimate journals. One of my favorite books of the year!
Loved this book. Loved reading about the history of Logan Mountstuart and his life. Once I started, I couldn't put this book down. You can read my full review here:

Excellent read! The story of a man growing up between the wars in Britain and told from the various perspectives of various ages in his life. From hobnobbing with the Prince of Wales to having to eat dogfood in a basement flat in London – a great great read. LIked it so much I went online and discovered they had made a three part BBC show on it, downloaded it and was not disappointed.10/10
This is the story of Logan Mountstuart, born 1906, whose life intersects with the major events of the 20ieth century. It has been filmed and shown on PBS. Not that insightful.
I really enjoyed this. It's a big one, but well worth the read--it goes fairly quickly. At times, it feels a bit melodramatic--but the narrator comes across as a real person. Flawed, but never wanting to give up or in (at least, not for long). He's a scum bag at times--but a likable scum bag.

Cast includes Matthew Macfadyen (Pride & Prejudice, Little Dorrit), Gillian Anderson (Bleak House, The X Files) and Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City, My Boy Jack).
