On a hot July afternoon, a worker at an Antietam Creek construction site drives the blade of his backhoe into a layer of soil and strikes a 5,000-year-old human skull. The discovery draws plenty of attention and a lot of controversy. It also changes the life of one woman in ways she never expected

I like Nora Roberts' books for a fast-paced, easy-to-read suspense. I tolerate the romance that's sprinkled in. And normally, I enjoy the ride. But "Birthright" had too much romance, not enough suspense, and flat characters who I found it hard to sympathize with.

So, although I stuck it out to find out "whodoneit," I really wouldn't recommend this one to others.

Fantastic book - the first book I ever read of Roberts' and the best book of hers, in my opinion. (I have read the majority of her non-series titles). Multiple characters have a solid storyline and Callie and Jake have a great back-and-forth throughout the story that pulls you along. Highly recommended for Roberts fans or anyone who enjoys a good romance.
