Ramona's father just lost his job & finds himself filling more of his wife's roles around the house. Ramona can't decide if she likes having her dad around more now or if this is going to make life more difficult since he is doing more of mom's tasks (that she apparently is better at). Although there are definitely growing pains for both father & family, it turns out to be a special time for Ramona to bond with her dad.
Ahhh...yet another sweet Ramona book. My daughter found some of the father/daughter situations relateable & therefore funny! She definitely could understand Ramona's frustrations relating to mom not being available & daddy filling in. During tax season, this is exactly what happens at our house. She says she's always glad when tax season is done so that mommy can take back over her regular "mom duties". HA HA! It was sweet to have Ramona details some of the roles she believes a mom & dad fill but also to see those characters fill the opposite "roles" when the need arises. A nice view of "step-up parenting" at its best.
