Fascinating book as one might expect from Barry Miles. And pretty much what I expected. Zappa was a brilliant musician and composer but a little too mean spirited for my taste. I did see him live a couple of times (1974 & 1980) and found his guitar playing beautiful. This book inspired me to listen to Frank Zappa: The London Symphony Orchestra, which to me is his best work.

Excellent review of Zappa's life and insight into what shaped him.

Pretty thorough except for mentioning the Zappa/Garcia shows, which were once in a lifetime. Saw the Chicago show.
