I can’t decide why I like these books. Is it the London setting? The blue-collar tone? The sense of history they impart (hey, anything before my birth is “history” to me)? Or is just because they’re rollicking good spy novels? All of the above, I think. Fans of Ian Fleming’s "James Bond" franchise will enjoy these books, as will aficionados of Lawrence Block’s "Bernie Rhodenbarr" series.

This series of which this is the second book is a great insight into London and Great Britain after WWII. In this one you must dig deep to get the great bits of philosophy as well as the historical cameos of such people as the Duke of Windsor. A great read. All turning around Jethro, a cat burglar who has been enlisted by MI5 to be one of their irregulars.
