This volume started off well, with some great action sequences and plot advancement from volume one, and then fizzled out and disappointed me in many ways. I will not be reading more by Hamilton.

Hamilton has a lot of original scifi ideas and concepts, which made me want to continue the Commonwealth series. Here he continues to juggle a lot of characters and plot lines, but the dialog is tedious and overbearing at times, and doesn't really advance the novel, except to slow it down. This novel felt like it should have been completed in 300 pages, not 827.
