My two years old just loves it!!! She can´t have enough of this book. The words are quite difficult sometimes, but to learn new vocabulary is always a good thing! Really charming, enjoyable and fun for little ones and adults.

I was rather disappointed by this book. Looking at it as an adult I can see its artistic appeal but from the perspective of a preschooler is misses the mark.

The pictures are quite dark and fail to hold children’s attention; I have rarely read a book when kids are so eager to flip the page for the hopes of something better. The story its self, when considering the target audience, has overly complicated sentence structure and the rhythm of the writing makes for a difficult and boring story to read aloud. The physical font style and size continuously changes, which makes it hard for children who are trying to pick out words they already know.

I would not be so critical of this book except for the fact that it is included in EPL’s “100 Great Book to Read Together”. There is no way that this book should be along side all the other fantastic books that the EPL team has complied in their list. If the list is ever reviesed I hope this selection has been removed from it.
