Beautiful, touching biography of Juan Francisco Manzano, who endured years of brutal treatment at the hands of his Mistress. Despite her borderline insanity, Juan is able to memorize huge swaths of poetry in many languages, and these verses become his mental escape. Dark in some places, but not graphic
