For those who have read the book. It is now 2017. What impact does the book have on you now a few years after you read the book, if any?

Thank you.

This book is extremely powerful. While Dr. Chopra is a genius, he explains the topic comprehensively. What stands out for me is that it provides answers that immediately connects the reader with her true self--Soul, ( A stepped down version of Absolute Reality or God or universal consciousness). After such awareness--I realize that I do not want to continue associating with ego, which is a daily struggle. Soul, my true self, is understanding and patient. I realize the saying--I am always becoming--is so right on. I was always on the path (the right one) leading me to Soul.

This book helps with winning the battle, overcoming the ego, the worldly perception of self. However, it takes getting use to relative to living as Soul. There is this tug-of-war--but, Soul wins each time. It really is about surrendering and saying yes to everything, so that my life flows with Universal Consciousness.

This book is beyond religious constructs, which is why it liberates. It allowed me to answer complex questions, e.g. are all souls on the same playing field? Dr. Chopra says no, because "our inner world and outer world interdependently co-arise depending on the level of vibration of our spirit." But, once we begin living as Soul, we can begin to live the life according to the plan of Universal Consciousness.

Again, while Dr. Chopra explains the concepts of universal consciousness brilliantly, making it comprehensible, they may be overwhelming and hard to accept. But, I recommend reading the book, and then allowing your Soul to guide you.

A beautiful book

True happiness is found from within. That is the essence of this book. If we place blame upon outside sources, we become victims of our own destiny. Whatever happens in our daily lives, good or bad, is a part of us, as we are a part of the greater whole.

Meditation is one way of dealing with stressful situations and meditating about two times a day can actually lower blood pressure, increase job performance and lengthen life expectancy. Tune into the rhythms of the cosmos and allow them to flow through you to give you power, freedom and grace.

Chopra cites to the philosophy of Vedanta and to numerous scholars and prophets, such as the poet Rumi and theoretical physicist John Wheeler. Stress in our lives can be caused by worrying about the past or the future. By dwelling in the “now” and realizing that everything has a purpose, one can relax a little and achieve a sense of calm. This transfers from everyday life into higher tasks, which are then accomplished with greater ease and efficiency.

I learned a lot from this book, including viewing life as an active participant in the cosmic consciousness as opposed to being a “victim”. This is not to say that one should label every occurrence as a positive force, but it does give one the chance to “do” as opposed to being “done to”. I cannot say that I embrace all of the aspects of this book, but it does give me some interesting alternatives - very interesting indeed.
