As always reading and or listening to Maya Angelou is both a soothing balm and Inspiring tonic for my Soul and this was no exception! The book includes events, lessons, stories which cause laughter, poems and overall thoughts & reflections about being and living in the World. Perhaps not as incandescently articulated as some of her other essays, such as Wouldn't Take Nothing for My Journey Now and or Even the Stars Look Lonesome, yet nonetheless, a significant contribution in her prolific body of work. I was fortunate enough to have both the paperback & audiobook, which was read by Maya and listening to her lush tones after not hearing her voice since her death made my Heart sing as I walked & meandered on sunny Spring days. A rewarding read.

I loved hearing her deep, resonant voice speaking to each of us. Every daughter should hear this.

As I have got no time in my hands to sit down and read a book, I loved listening to Mrs Angelou's calming voice and life stories while driving to and back from work.

I truly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. I am going to give my daughters a copy and I hope they share it with their friends.

"My life has been long, and believing that life loves the liver of it, I have dared to try many things, sometimes trembling, but daring still... There have been people in my life who meant me ill and, have given me ample notification that my world is not meant to be all peaches and cream. I have made many mistakes and no doubt will make more before I die. When I have seen pain, when I have found that my ineptness has caused displeasure, I have learned to accept my responsibility and to forgive myself first, then to apologize to anyone injured by my misreckoning. Since I cannot un-live history, and repentance is all I can offer God, I have hopes that my sincere apologies were accepted.
You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them. Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud. Do not complain. Make every effort to change things you do not like. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking..." Introduction, pg 5
