Add a CommentThis is a good read for children. It has an element of mystery involving the town the main character moves to and would be delightfully scary for the younger of age.
When Eddie says goodbye to his classmates on the last day of school, he does not know that it will be the last time he will see them a long while. His parents make the split decision to pack up their life in the town Eddie has grown up in and move to an abandoned town called Gatesweed, where his favorite horror author mysteriously disappeared from, and things start to get weird. It begins with a bear/deer looking creature that they accidently run into driving to their new home. When the pickup truck comes they learn that most people move out of Gatesweed, not in, which only sparks Eddie's curiosity a little bit more. When his parents give him an old book that is called "The Enigmatic Manuscript" it is written purely in code, and that sets Eddie off on his journey with two unlikely companions named Harris and Maggie to discover the mysteries off Gatesweed and to find out what happened to the long lost author.
I usually don't do creepy books or movies, but my friend told me I had to read this book and I was hooked. I loved following the journey to discover what is up with Gatesweed that Dan Poblocki created. It was very creative and I generally do not know how he came up with this thrilling idea. This adventure is certainly one you must take for yourself, but I do suggest not reading it late at night if you like a peaceful sleep.
