This book was recommended to me to read. In the beginning it was somewhat hard to follow and in the end...well...you knew what was coming. An ok book to read if you cant find another.
This is my second book by Huneven and I enjoyed this one as much as the first one I read (Round Rock). Another book that stays with you after you are finished
If I was going to be a novelist, this is how I'd want to write. There's a cast of believable characters, high drama & peace-seeking. The central plot is attached to the book, no need for spoilers. The writing is just great, with rich, descriptive, natural dialogue. Highly recommend this book.
Blame 2009, Fiction
Patsy returned to town, driving her Mercedes Benz. She woke in a jail cell alone and did not know why she was there. Certainly not her first time: to wake up in the worn Altadena Sheriff's department's basement jail, sore and beat up, by whom??
Detective Ricky Barrett pulled from the old Homicide file a list of physical damage: to the victims. Slowly he read from it to Patsy: Jane Robin Parnham Mother aged 34, Elizabeth Parnham Daughter aged 12.
Both Jehovah's Witnesses, and were walking down Patsy Maclemoore's driveway.
Patsy, hearing the Homicide list read to her: realized her beautiful life is gone!
