Saw this with my young adult daughter and both loved it. Comedy comes from character and Judy Holliday provides that in abundance. The writing is quotable.

Took a while, but I did get drawn in to this 1950 b/w film.

Yes, Judy Holliday's voice was a bit annoying - but those dresses (and acting) were great. The glasses thing was particularly amusing (for me).

Broderick Crawford's voice/timbre and character were, um, ultra-tough - roughest I think I've ever seen on film.

William Holden was kind of ordinary as plain good guy.

I did enjoy this film, the idea was witty and interesting. I must confess that i started getting highly annoyed with Judy hollidays' character with that high-pitched-nonsense infant- voice. I wanted to fast forward her out of every scene.

Back in 1950 Born Yesterday was a staggeringly huge box-office hit that really wowed its audiences with its apparent clever wit, having one and all literally rolling in the aisles with peals of uncontrollable laughter._____ But, today, 63 years later - I found that this somewhat contrived and predictable RomCom's story to be repeatedly teetering on the very edge of being a one-note joke that got mighty stale after its first half hour._____ At the start Judy Holliday's Billie Dawn character (in all of its crudeness and its cluelessness) was kind of cute and amusing - But. it certainly didn't take long for her character's loudmouthed brassiness to grate on my nerves like you wouldn't believe._____ Besides Holliday not being able to cut the mustard in this Comedy, I also thought that Broderick Crawford as the big-mouthed bully-of-a-billionaire a repulsive bore and William Holden's true-blue, little newsreporter far too wishy-washy for my liking._____ All-in-all - Born Yesterday was just a so-so comedy that really had me baffled in regards to its huge popularity back in its heyday.

Must See - This is my favorite of the Judy Holliday films. Holliday plays this innocent minded woman married to a gangster and through her desire for truth, elevates herself to bettering her life. Very funny film and extremely enjoyable - don't be afraid of a black & white film; it's a wonderful film.

Not to be mistaken for the 1993 remake of the same titled movie (from a play by Garson Kanin)starring Don Johnson and his then wife, Melanie Griffith, and John Goodman in the role of the crooked business man. If you ever wanted to know where Melanie got ideas for playing the dumb blonde - this is the movie to watch the woman who was dumb as a fox-blonde - Judy Holliday!

Never bull a bull artist.

You don't go around this town buying up senators and congressmen, as if they wore price tags!

A kick in the keister, a crooked play and your problems are all solved.
