I'm putting this in my sock knitting wish list! I am an experienced sock knitter and I found helpful things in this book. Everything is very well explained and then some. Most of all, I'd like to thank the library for having this book available, and of course to the author for all her work putting this book together...

I have knit four pairs of socks from this book: Devon, Eunice, Rick, and Vilai, and am about half way through my fifth pair: Wanida. The quality of the designs is first rate, especially in Eunice and Vilai which both combine interesting and new openwork and cable patterns. I wear an average sized sock and tend to knit to gauge, so I haven't tried her suggestions for resizing. I also prefer DP needles so haven't tried to work these patterns with any circular needle technique. That said, the patterns are straight forward, well charted, and should be well withing the ability of someone with basic sock knitting skills. I found her section on design interesting and helpful. And in spite of the fact that I'm a die hard toe up sock knitter I keep returning to Cookie A's wonderful top down patterns.

This book includes an instructive introduction on designing your own socks. Each pattern also notes information on how to resize it, which is a nice feature. Some unique designs.

I'm an experienced sock knitter (both toe-up and top-down), and have knit some of the free designs from Cookie A (check out I knit two of the patterns from this book and found several errors in the charts, so watch out! The designs are complex and not easy to adapt to 2-at-a-time, magic loop knitting (my technique of choice). That said, the designs are lovely and complex-looking. As others have pointed out, all patterns are top-down.

This book has a really great introductory section about design, with all manner of useful information.
I was, however, disappointed that all of the socks are top-down.
Some lovely designs.
