A really great story. Fast paced with lots of photos, it is a great k-2 narrative non-fiction picture book. No a lot of facts, but still interesting.
Dixie Massey, my reading endorsement professor at the UW School of Education, used this book as an example of books that engage unmotivated students. It contains dogs and war (nothing too violent), and has a very happy ending. I also use this book to teach students about compassion.
