Meh

If you are looking for the story of The Police, keep looking. This isn’t it.

This is an autobiography of sorts. However, there isn’t really a common thread through the book, other than the fact that it all happened to Copeland. Each chapter is focussed on what seems to be an almost randomly selected part of his life. Some stuff on playing “world” music. Some stuff on playing polo. Some stuff on scoring films. Some of it was interesting to me, just as much was not. A random chapter will take place in 1987 and then the next one is 1989 – no explanation of what happened in between, no link between 87 and 89 – just like you drop into his life and then go away for 6 months or a year or two.

The part of the book that covers when The Police were together, before they broke up and then reunited seemed to be about 6 pages. I think he devotes about 6 pages to Klark Kent. Anybody remember Klark Kent? He goes into some detail on The Police reunion tour which I found interesting. But overall disappointing – not what I was expecting or hoping for.
