"I don't think we can teach empathy , but we can inspire it ."
- R.J Palacio
" Not just the nature of kindness, but the nature of one's kindness. The power of ones friendship. The test of one's character. The strength of ones courage."
SummaryAdd a Summary
It is about a 5th grader named August "Auggie" who has a facial difference and has been home-schooled for most of his young life. He gets enrolled at a middle school for 5th grade and wants nothing more than to feel normal. Instead Auggie gets bullied for his appearance from his peers and along the way you hear from not only Auggie, but from others who are around him begin to wonder what it means to have empathy and compassion. What it means to be a friend, how to accept your friend, but mostly how to be just "act a little kinder than necessary - the world would be a better place".
