I have been a long time fan of Reynolds. The Revelation Space series is my favorite Sci-Fi series of all time. When I first picked up this book years ago, I just could not get into it. I found it very slow moving and eventually put it down. About 5 years later I gave it another shot and am very glad that I did. Once the book picks up, it gets into the deep sci-fi style that I love from Reynolds. There is adventure, amazing tech, terror, deep time and artificial intelligence. If you are a fan of his work, be patient as you get through the first quarter of the book as it really picks up.

I struggled with this work of fiction. I believed during reading this must have taken years to complete. I found in the addendum this was the case. It is a sweeping novel that time and time again just misses having a central theme. Several themes indeed. I am glad I finished it, I just wish there was more focus on various theme completion. This Novel is worth your time -

Enjoyed the mystery of the plot set in a well imagined future - intriguing in class with Robert J. Sawyer ... characters are complex & well developed. A GOOD read!

A quite entertaining if fairly conventional SF novel with an interesting, well thought out future setting.
