A beautiful film about an interesting individual with a singular passion. Recommend for lovers of the genre and sushi, though you don't need to be a fan of the latter to enjoy this film.

An interesting, and an educational film! Make sure to watch the Commentary section, also; it is well-worth it! More info on types of rice used would have been helpful! They talked of rice, but only in general! I was surprised not to see any women, as it is usual to, neither in this restaurant nor in the large fish market! Seems to be a male-dominated field!
It would have been good if the Director, also, did a section on other famous Sushi restaurants, as he originally meant to! It would have given a good comparison, even if not as detailed!
And a part in Extras on how to eat sushi properly would have been helpful! I picked up few tips in the Commentary!

In Japan, there are hundreds of sushi restaurants, but among them only one has a world renowned rating of 3 Michelin Stars. Jiro is well advanced in years, and in his dedication, he is still striving for perfect sushi. In a world where sushi has become common place, discover the lengths that Jiro and his two sons have gone to recreate sushi and stand above all other restaurants. I love sushi and this movie has given me a new appreciation of this food as an art form. One thing is certain, I will now add this place to my bucket list of a ‘once in a life time experience’. A powerful portrait of a man obsessed with quality. No detail is too small, and even the most menial of tasks are approached with complete devotion. Jiro's work ethic and mindfulness in an uncompromising pursuit of his passion is inspiring.

I have never craved sushi as much as I did while watching this film. This documentary was one of the most interesting that I have watched about seafood. Jiro, a master in sushi, still has the mentality that perfecting his sushi is important. He gets up early everyday, buys the best tuna, and other seafood, and works his wonders!

This documentary is extremely inspiring and outrageously mouth watering. You will never look at sushi the same again.

I was immediately drawn into this story, inspired by Jiro's passion for his work and dedication to mastering his skills. This documentary made me pause to think of my own career and how I might not take it as seriously as I could. Then I put that thought aside in search of sushi for dinner!

I think I would have liked this documentary more if I was a fan of sushi and fish, which I am neither. I found it difficult to imagine working a lifetime on perfecting something that is so unappealing to me. ;-) While I admire his single-minded devotion to his craft, I don't find him to be a well-rounded person /someone I would want to emulate.

What does it mean to be 85 years old, considered to be the best in the world at your craft, but freely admit you still have much to learn? Find out when you meet Jiro in this humbling look at the life of a master sushi chef.

I was expecting something really entertaining, considering the four and five star reviews here, but, on the whole, this is quite dull and boring.

Beautiful and elegant. I was captivated from beginning to end to hear this story.
