A fun movie to watch, with or without the kids :-) .

Hotel Transylvania is an entertaining and funny movie. I am really glad that they decided to create a part 2 and 3 to this movie as well. When I first watched this movie I never imagined more parts being created. I ended up being very wrong though. They ended up making more parts and surprisingly, all of them became some of the most interesting kid movies I ever saw. Everyone went wild when this movie came out and all the theaters were packed. After watching the movie I finally realized why. My favourite part of this movie is the lesson you get from it. Which is accepting people's differences. I love how they manage to incorporate important things is a funny childish way. This movie is great for children to watch and it will definitely keep them entertained. I rate this movie a 4/5. @TheBookieReadingMonster of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

The movie “Hotel Transylvania” is an amazing monster movie and is one of the best animated movies of all time. The animation of this movie was outstanding, the animation of this movie is definitely an updated version of Columbia’s animation style. Overall, the animation of the background and characters was very appropriate with fantastic colour. The colours of the movie were also very well used with a mix of brights and darks to empathizes emotion in different sections. The plot of this movie was very amusing with Dracula’s daughter falling in love with a human boy who happened to discover the monster-infested hotel. The ending of this movie was very touching, with Dracula finally accepting the relationship between his daughter and a human boy. The emotion and mood which was expressed in this movie were marvellous with comedy, sadness and joy. I believe that this movie is enjoyable for all ages as it is a children’s movie, however, I still recommend this movie for adults. Anyone who loves Halloween or monsters should definitely watch this movie. @Chichiro of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

Hotel Transylvania is a children’s film I think makes for a great laugh with family and friends. The film is about a town where monsters gather in Count Dracula’s hotel whenever they want to relax. However, troubles arise when a human has also entered the hotel. The movie revolves around Count Dracula and his daughter, Mavis’s lives. I think the movie was really comedic, however the audience is geared towards is younger children. I would rate this movie a two and a half out of five stars, as I wish it was geared to a larger range of ages. Overall, I think that if you like cartoon movies, or enjoy children’s comedy movies, then Hotel Transylvania will be a great watch for you.

(*From this dissatisfied viewer's perspective*)

Isn't Dracula supposed to be a vampire? - And - Don't vampires suck the blood out of us humans?

(I had always thought that this was the case)

But, here in Hotel Transylvania the whole business of bloodsucking never came up once. So, what was the point of having vampire-characters in this movie when they don't do what they are supposed to do?

Like - DUH!

Yeah-Yeah-Yeah - I know that this is, in fact, "just-a-kiddies-movie" - But - All the same - Hotel Transylvania's story, literally, managed to single-handedly destroy every horrific myth about every frickin' monster that you've ever heard about in no time flat.

And, then - To top that off - This movie had the absolute gall to reduce all of these monsters to the level of being nothing but cute, cuddly, sweet, little teddy bears, one and all. (Cringe-cringe)

With its storyline gleefully delivering just about every stale monster (and fart) joke in the book - This hideously predictable "Romeo & Juliet" tale really went well out of its way to be oh-so cute and oh-so clever. But, alas - It failed miserably.

And, as a result - Hotel Transylvania quickly became something of an irritating bore to watch from this annoyed viewer's perspective.

Cute monster movie. Great to watch around Halloween. But there is one problem, going into the movie, I thought vampires said "blah blah blah".

A light and funny animated comedy with jokes appealing to a range of ages. It's fun seeing Dracula as an overprotective parent and resort owner, and Jonathan is a wonderful caricature of a youthful world-rover who still manages to have a surprising amount of heart. Fans of the "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" film will find a similar humor and animation style here.

My Grand daughter LOVED this! Its colorful, musical, and kept her attention.

A few sexist/racist/etc "jokes" (the "nagging wife" cliche, "he smells and has too many children", etc)

Nothing spectacular here, but there's rarely anything wrong with the silly colourful fun of a family film. HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA provides just that. A sweet film about a widowed father who finds it hard not to helicopter parent his daughter Mavis, the film adds a nice layer of laughs with its spooky cast of characters. First of all, the father we focus on is Dracula. Then there's his friends, such as Frankenstein, the Wolf Man, and the Mummy. In fact, the Invisible Man is absolutely my favourite, dealing in jokes that invoke our lack of knowledge regarding his physical appearance almost exclusively but sporadically and creatively enough that it compensates for the overall one-note spirit. It's flawed and doesn't stand up to some of the great animated films, especially the Pixar œuvre, but it's a good time nonetheless. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
