I’m thinking that Carr’s books are a nice change from strictly romance-centered fiction. Her books are a great mixture of women’s fiction and romance. I find them highly enjoyable with wonderful characters and multiple compelling story arcs, but I definitely can’t read them back-to-back. A break between books is necessary for me, because like many authors who write ongoing series’, similar word use and mannerisms exist among their characters and can cue some difficult to veil eye-rolls. I don’t think I’ve heard the use of “nah” more in my life than in the first two books of Virgin River. In spite of that, I still enjoyed this book immensely and was especially captivated during some well-written and suspenseful scenes. I’ve noticed that her books continually introduce new characters, as well as ongoing story lines with established characters that have me interested in learning their future outcomes. I can see how a reader who enjoys this type of story-telling could get invested in the lives of all of these characters, making it easy to continue on. Maybe a little more leisurely than other readers, I’ll definitely be continuing with the series and the lives of those in Virgin River.

I just finished this book and it brought back so many memories. I love the way Ms. Carr set the main character Paige in setting where she could heal, grow and love again.

A pretty easy read, with some surprising depth.
