Same battle to keep the police station open, same dead end romances. I keep reading the series wondering if anything will change.

Tis possible that I'm either out-growing the series or M.C. Beaton needs to kick things up a notch. I enjoyed the book but some parts of the plot seemed contrived/lazy. Nothing for us readers to exercise our brain cells on.

Yes, after more than 20 books, it gets repetitive. But what can I say, I'm addicted to the series. As comfortable as a nice thick robe, fuzzy slippers and hot chocolate.
Also, I credit this series with giving me a desire to do a tour of Scotland's Highlands in the next few years.

Good as always lots of twists and turns. A nice easy read.

This was a very interesting entry. Besides the main plot of “who killed Morag” there were several smaller cases, including the return of two of Hamish’s creepiest suspects from a prior book. I can’t help but wonder if Beaton meant to write so many subplots when she began this book, or if the main plot came up short of her quota and she had to go back and write in some filler. Either way, it works.
