Newlywed Grace Monroe doesn't fit anyone's expectations of a successful 1950s London socialite, least of all her own. When she receives an unexpected inheritance from a complete stranger, Madame Eva d'Orsey, Grace is drawn to uncover the identity of her mysterious benefactor. Weaving through the decades, from 1920s New York to Monte Carlo, Paris, and London, the story Grace uncovers is that of an extraordinary women who inspired one of Paris's greatest perfumers. Immortalized in three evocative perfumes, Eva d'Orsey's history will transform Grace's life forever, forcing her to choose between the woman she is expected to be and the person she really is

A wonderful tale, despite the weaker written points and as mentioned earlier the predictability. I enjoyed the walk my imagination took and the cleverness of Ms. Tessaro.

The twists and turns in this historical fiction + mystery novel aren't so complicated that it takes away from the characters and details, which were divine! I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to get into and hard to put down. I liked how it kept you thinking ahead & then switching gears as it took you to another time & place. I will look for more from this writer.

Predictable, but kept me interested for a quick read.

Happily-ever-after isn't working out the way upper crust newlywed Grace Monroe thought it would. When a sudden and mysterious inheritance takes her to Paris, she discovers scents and sensations of another life entirely.

The perfect light, escapist summer read!

A very enjoyable and readable book and I am sure it will provide plenty of discussion material for the book club. Yes, there were some spelling and grammatical errors missed by the proof reader, but these did not spoil my enjoyment. I believe this book would make a good movie. I will certainly look out for some of the author's other titles.

Part historical fiction and part mystery. Classic style of a story told by two women in two different eras with a pace that moves well until their tales collide. Characters are sharp and the plot has some twists which makes for a good number of themes a Book Club can sink their teeth into. Enjoy.

A really good book but found it was jumping from 1955 to 1927 too much but other than that a really good book!

Grace Munroe's life changes suddenly when she receives a letter from a mysterious benefactor Eva d'Orsey. She leaves her husband in London and flies to Paris, where she discovers the truth about her past, and what it is to live life with one's senses. Loved the historical setting which alternated between the 1920's and the 1940's during the Nazi occupation of Paris. I learned much about how perfumes are made, the house of Hiver, and the great scents like Mon Peche and Mon Coeur. I will remember the great gift of "le droit de choisir" which Grace receives from the money Eva leaves her.
