This Rocks and Minerals book is a fun guide with much to offer, both younger and older rock hounds. I can easily see it as a selection for a reading corner in a classroom that includes high school students. The mineral ID flow chart I found a bit confusing, but its linear layout may be helpful to others. The book is colorful, with polished and unpolished samples, side by side. The various sections will have an appeal to many beginners who want to learn more. A good book for the curious beginner!

I used this for my preschoolers to learn about rocks and they loved the cartoon illustrations. There is even a poster in the back! This has tons of info and would be good with many age groups. The only complaint I can think of for older kids would be that there are no actual pictures of the rocks and minerals. But this complaint is actually one of the selling points for the age group I was working with which was 3-5.

Another outstanding entry in this series. Bright illustrations and engaging text make this a great way to introduce children to geology.
