A character-driven documentary film that goes behind the doors of an American public hospital struggling to care for a community of largely uninsured patients. Young victims of gun violence take their turn alongside artists and small business owners who lack insurance. The film weaves the stories of several patients-as well as the hospital staff charged with caring for them-as they cope with the complexity of the nation's public health care system, while dealing with a national recession

This documentary puts the larger picture in perspective by going behind the scenes in a public hospital. It clarifies the effects on an already overloaded hospital system to address, what I see as, essentially 2 categories of patients: 1) those that consciously inflict the harm unto themselves (eg, OD due to substance abuse) and 2) those that do not (eg, cancer). There's a profound personal responsibility factor here that's not being addressed by the 1st category of patients that I hope they will weigh upon after their latest hospital visit (if they make it that far), as it not only affects their health, but it escalates the dangers involuntarily placed on the other patients in the waiting room, who must now wait longer to be attended to so that the doctors can address the health issues of the higher priority patients in the 1st category.

Words can't really express how
wonderful and humane I felt
this documentary is. Its a real
eye-opener! After you see the
film, please check out all the features

more information regarding the
hospital, the patients, and the
staff that works there.
