I was surprized to find it was more than chick lit. The family interactions were very interesting. although she does taken some fairly audacious name dropping leaps.

Pancol has created an entertaining, easy-going story around the bonds and disconnections of a family living in and around Paris. It offers a great sense of place, and characterization. The transl. from French is sometimes awkward but the story is satisfying.

"Droll funny tale translated from the French and a big bestseller in Europe. Story of a woman whose husband runs off and whose sister seems to have the perfect life. When our heroine writes a novel which becomes a bestseller, her sister claims it, and the proceeds."
