"Thirteen years ago, 'guardian angel' Mason Fletcher rescued 16-year-old Lucy Sheridan from becoming the victim of sociopathic classmate Tristan Brinker. Now Lucy is back in Summer River, CA, to fix up the vintage Craftsman-style home she inherited from her Aunt Sara. Mason, on a break from his Washington, DC, security consulting business, is also back in town, to help out his uncle. When he and Lucy open up the old fireplace in her house, a body falls out, and things take an ominous turn."--Library Journal

An excellent story line with some mystery and suspence. You will never know what could happen at a teenage party and find out years later the truth about one special night with friends. Will definetly be reading more of Jayne Ann Krentz books.

It's been a long time since I've read Jayne Ann Krentz. River Road is a delightful blend of mystery and romance set in CA's wine country. It was on the 2017 list of best 101 romance novels in the last decade.

Lucy Sheridan returns to Aunt Sara's home after her tragic death in a car accident. With the help of Mason Fletcher, the boy she had a crush on when a teen-ager, she finds a dead body in her aunt's fireplace. She learns how much her aunt loves her and protected her years ago. The romance between Lucy and Mason grows through out the book which has a satisfying ending.

If you like your romance with a strong-minded heroine and equally tough hero with sometimes a little of the paranormal thrown in, than Jayne Krentz is the author for you. Always fun to read.

Not one of her best. The characters are unusually one-dimensional. I've really enjoyed many of her other books and don't mind knowing the arc of the story line before hand, but she's written much better books than this.

This novel is one of Krentz's best. She takes her time building the character relationships, romance and suspense. Very satisfying read.

A classic JAK romantic suspense. A good read, but not a great read. For those who like her previous works, you will also like this one!
