I love the characters in this series, but in this book Gil's wife plays a small roll only and I HATE that there is no forward movement in her relationship with her new step-mom. The wonderful relationships that existed between the characters in previous books was sorely missing. I still liked reading the book but I didn't love it as I did the earlier books. Pat keep things more on the positive side and let those wonderful characters that you have created shine more in the next book.

In this mystery set in medieval Scotland, the author brings to life the laws of that period regarding marriage, insanity, and inheritance. This book ties them all together to make a puzzle that kept me guessing until the last chapter as to why the killings occurred and who the murderer is. There is a glossary in the book to keep you apprised of the meanings of some of the words.
