Playtime becomes a lesson on wonderful watery creatures, and the ways humans act similar. Learning to swim, bath time, and hiding in the reeds, are some of the activities that can be compared. Each spread features one page with the animal, and one with children doing the same. Facts are greatly simplified, but are made fun with sound effects, and are in a narrative style. Additional information is provided in the back about each creature. Watercolours give the water an appropriate feel, and a fun look overall. Whoosh! may be non-fiction, but it focuses less on the facts, and more on encouraging children to act like these animals, and to see how alike we all are.
