I followed the rise and election of Barack Obama to the presidency in 2008. Came to know and admire David Axelrod along the way, so I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Had a hard time putting it down. I would recommend it to anyone interested in politics, especially those who are on the idealistic side. Obama and the team he assembled for his administration represent, to me, what politics should be all about.
Entertaining political memoir by President Obama's political advisor. Not a lot new for the inveterate Obama watcher, but even allowing for the writer's natural bias, the book confirms my view of POTUS as an intelligent and thoughtful leader whose big mistake was thinking he could divorce governing from politics.
A well-written memoir of the life of a political campaign strategist. Provides a fly-on-the-wall view of the senatorial and presidential campaigns that Axelrod was involved in and of the candidates that he worked for - the most prominent one being Barack Obama. Axelrod has high praise for Obama as a person and a leader.
