A tough read to get through because the author's infamous "curiosity conversations" are scheduled from a place of immense privilege and power. He even admits that some power players and headline makers take meetings with him in the hopes of having a movie made about them.

I agree with the author's conclusions on the power of curiosity, but found the book really tough to read.

I really liked this book. While I'm not familiar with Brian Grazer, I have watched his movies. I went into this book thinking it would be another Hollywood blowhard. I was pleasantly surprised. I love reading about actors/actresses and their real lives. Not Kardashian-scripted "real lives". These were real conversations with people Grazer actually knew and worked with. A refreshing side of Hollywood. Charles Fishman's wiring is superb.

It was the title of the book that drew me to it; and in that sense it was a disappointment. Grazer talks extensively about his propensity to ask questions and how it served him in his career and perhaps even in his life. I'm not so sure the strategies mentioned will work for others. The book started off well with a quote from Einstein : "I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious."Yes, Einstein's curiosity did indeed serve him well.

"The variety in my work (and my life) comes from curiosity. It is the tool I use to search out different kinds of characters and stories than I would be able to make up on my own. Some people can dream up a person. I have to meet someone like that in person. To see how the world looks like from his perspective, I have to sit in the same room with him. I have to ask him questions for myself and not only hear how he answers, but see how the expression on his face changes as he answers." (47)
