Set in Loch Ness, right in the middle of WWII, a foolish group of rich Americans arrive in search of the famous monster. Narrator Maddie must make sense of the circumstances that have brought her to this wild locale. Only then can she discover the strength she needs to make her own decisions.
I have to admit, I had a hard time staying interested at first. Like in previous comments, the reader’s voice is hard to get used to. However, once the plot thickens, I barely noticed my indifference toward the reader’s voice. This was an amazing story, one that lit a fire in my soul. It’s books like these that remind me why I love to read. I hope you can enjoy it as much as I did.
The reader's voice was not enjoyable, but I stuck with it and enjoyed the story. A romance and friendship set during WWII with monsters of the human and Loch Ness variety.
The novel was intriguing, but I could not get past the reader's voice. Her intonation and vocal fry were irritating. I checked the book out to read to myself.
