"Last year, the Japanese company that created instant ramen sold 46 billion packs and cups of pre-flavored dried noodles. It is a ubiquitous food, especially beloved by anyone looking for a cheap, tasty bite--including, it turns out, prisoners, who buy instant ramen at the commissary and use it as the building block for all sorts of meals that foster bonds of loyalty and friendship. [This book] takes readers behind bars, with 65 ramen recipes combined with stories of prison life from the inmates who devised them, including celebrities like Slash from Guns n' Roses and the actor Shia LaBeouf"-- Provided by publisher

The stories from the incarcerated men were very interesting, but I'm not sure I would make any of the food unless I find myself incarcerated.

Odd little book! My kids would have loved this book when they were going through their ramen phase! Most of them are basic additions because when in prison, supplies can be limited.

Two things that I know nothing about: prison and ramen. But within this gritty little volume, you will find recipes and remembrances of making the best food (or dessert, or even hooch) in the most difficult of situations. For those of us not likely to end up behind bars, these recipes could easily translate to camping or cheap weekend eats.
