I just completed this series of 3 books. Overall I enjoyed them. The pacing was quick enough to keep me engaged, but the series didn't really grab me. I didn't have much of an emotional connection with the characters. They were nicely outlined, but didn't really suck me in. It's a fun series and the world-building is pretty nice. Overall it's fun and if you like fantasy worth a read, but just a smidge flat for me. I like to really get inside the heads of the characters and I just didn't feel that from this series. The action was interesting and I liked the idea of it all, but just wasn't quite as engaging as I'd like. Ultimately if this series continues and I see a fourth book on the New Book Shelf I may or may not pick it up. It's pretty okay, but not something I'm dying for more of.
